Puzzling death in Yellowstone National Park

I still remember this one incident when my dad and I were out on a camping trip. We had found a dead camper in the Yellowstone National Park when I was 5 or 6.   We were walking casually, throwing stones into the lake. It was like every feel-good vacation movie you've ever seen. As we were chilling, we suddenly saw this guy slumped against a tree. At first, we didn't think much of it, but it was getting cold and dark, and my dad didn't want the guy to fall asleep in a forest and wake up unable to find his way back to his camp. You see, the forest always feels different at night. The best campers might lose their sense of direction. So my dad and I started walking towards him, but the closer we got, the worse it smelt, not like rotting flesh but like shit, literally like shit.   My dad told me to stay back, and he walked over to the guy and asked him if he was okay.
