Paranormal Activities at Walmart
I worked at the Walmart store for many years. I have read a lot of horror stories on Reddit about things that happen to people at their jobs. Honestly, I cannot conceive of most of it happening at Walmart. Besides that, I have never witnessed problems with working off the clock. I was never even asked to work off the clock. I felt that I was generally paid appropriately for my job. But that didn't mean I hated the shit out of it sometimes, and nothing bad ever happened. I had scores of shitty managers and worked in stores that were managed and run poorly by the staff.
So my story is about a late evening when I was patrolling along the aisles. I was supposed to overlook the recently stocked aisles and ensure everything was in place. A part of my job is to note the fast-selling products and ask the attendant to restock. It was all going well until I saw a kid standing and staring at a snack shelf. At first, I didn’t care much since his mom or dad would be around. But I could hear no noise around. Generally, kids are set free by their parents, but they do stay in a close radius, just in case.
I had walked past the aisles and had seen no one there. They were empty. Just so you get a better idea of the map of where I work, this was the far end of the store. Also, there was generally less crowd at this end, since forever. I continued walking to the next few rows to try and spot some adults. But I saw no one. I quickly paced ahead to see if they were a little farther from their kid than I expected. I got to the end and still saw no one. I eyed around and saw some people in clusters, but they were already with kids or looked like they had no kids. I went back to the aisle where I spotted the kid before. So I paced back to the spot. He was gone.
I walked through the aisle to see if he was visible behind the shelf. But he was gone - nowhere to be seen. I was confused. If he had left, I should have seen him. And I had walked back to his spot within hardly 20 to 30 seconds of spotting him in the first place. Also, there was no other exit that he would have taken. I was thinking about it when suddenly a noise caught my attention. Something had fallen in the aisle next to where I was standing.
I quickly walked there and turned to see the kid standing right there. He stood there, staring at a packet of Cheetos fallen on the floor. I was relieved. I must have assumed the wrong aisle last time. I found the kid, but he was alone. I approached him after calling him a couple of times. He kept ignoring me. The kid had a yellow raincoat or a jacket with a hood. No, it was not a hoodie. It looked more waterproofing, if that is a word. And it was a rainy day indeed. So it was not so surprising. I asked him if he wanted the packet that was on the floor. He did not reply. I found it creepy. So I picked it up and gently stated that I’m keeping it back where it was.
Again no response. I checked the shelves and noticed the large sized packets were at the top. I was a little short. So I had to throw it with good aim. After a few attempts, it landed perfectly. All this while, the kid kept quiet. I assumed he was punished. It struck me that it was surprising that a kid had reached the very top shelf. That’s when I noticed that he was gone. He vanished into thin air. I never saw him leave. He just disappeared. I rushed far away from the spot and told my colleague about him. He asked me to ignore it and suggested I take care of the counter for the remainder of the day. I shrugged the experience off and just focused on my work. My eyes kept searching for the kid in between. But I never spotted him.
At the end of the day, the colleague approached me and told me about the incident. He gently explained that it was a hallucination. It used to be a common occurrence before. Things would randomly fall, or some unexplainable noises heard. In recent times, this was not reported much, so they had not cared to inform or alert the new joiners.
I asked for an explanation for this occurrence. I shit you not! The next line that he said still gives me all the chills. He said there was some accident that had caused the death of some in the store. It was years back. And they managed to suppress the story from the press and media, to avoid defamation. They were successful and no one got to know much about it. Except for one lady who was related to the person who had passed away, that had crashed inside the store late one night and done some witchcraft or ritual. There was a break-in in the middle of the night and she had cursed the place.
It was all caught on camera and the lady had to serve jail time for damaging property, breaking in, and other charges. But when the cops left with her, there were literal marks and tiny occult objects placed in different places in the store. The crew was given a task to take out all of it. And they did. But a few must be left, which is why some tricks are still played on the unwary visitors. And maybe that is why I had seen the little kid and had noticed the fallen packet.
